Gymnastics Facilities

The gymnastics program has never truly had a place to call its own, as the Golden Flashes have been forced to share their practice space in the increasingly busy MAC Center. Despite this drawback, Kent State holds a firm place at the top of the Mid-American Conference and qualified for the 2011 NCAA Championships – a first in the history of the program.

A new dedicated gymnastics practice facility will ensure the program has the necessary resources to make the NCAA Championships a regular destination. By relocating the facility the team will add an additional 3,000 square feet of venue space, including soft pit landing areas which are an essential piece of the training programs of all elite college gymnastics programs.

The practice facility will also include new equipment and state-of-the-art apparatuses for practice use only. This will eliminate the wear and tear of moving equipment back and forth between the practice facility and meet venue.

With your support, Kent State gymnastics will have a practice facility capable of vaulting the Golden Flashes to a permanent place among the nation’s elite.

Why?

A dedicated practice facility will allow our nationally ranked gymnastics squad to train year round without interruption.

Why?

The additional space and upgraded equipment, especially the soft landing pits, will provide a safer training environment that is essential for injury prevention.

Why?

The combination of new equipment and safety upgrades will also provide Golden Flashes gymnasts the opportunity to develop more difficult skills necessary to compete at the highest collegiate level.

Why?

The facility will assist gymnastics in recruiting the top student-athletes from high-level clubs both locally and nationally.

This facility will move us into the 21st century and will reflect the caliber of program we have established here at Kent State. This is a great place for young women to earn their degree and excel in gymnastics, and a properly equipped facility will only help us recruit better student-athletes.
