Wrestling Facilities

As Dustin Kilgore so emphatically demonstrated with his stunning pin to win the 2011 NCAA title, Kent State has earned a place among the nation’s elite wrestling programs. The new practice facility will aid in keeping the Golden Flashes firmly entrenched in that lofty company.

By increasing the facility to more than 7,000 square feet, the Golden Flashes will have a well-appointed space to properly train as a full team for the first time. One of the largest benefits of the additional space will be the fact that the coaches will no longer be forced to conduct split squad practices – a huge factor in proper team building. As a matter of fact, the facility will have room for four mats as well as dedicated areas for cardio and agility training. In addition, the expanded training area will also provide an avenue for the team to visually display the rich history of the program.

With your support, the new training facility will help ensure the Kent State wrestling program’s continued standing among the nation’s best.

Why?

By gaining nearly 3,000 square feet of additional practice space, the entire Kent State wrestling squad will be able to train all at once for the first time.

Why?

The additional space will allow for four dedicated practice mats, with additional areas for cardio and agility workouts, dramatically increasing the team’s ability to properly train and condition.

Why?

The facility will demonstrate to potential recruits that Kent State is committed to competing for a national title year after year.

Why?

There will be ample room to visually display the program’s strong tradition of success throughout the years.

The new practice facility will not only be the best in the Mid-American Conference, but also one of the top wrestling facilities in the country.  This enhancement, along with the remarkable upgrades to campus and downtown Kent, will provide opportunities for our program to recruit the best wrestlers in Ohio and across the country. This is an important transformation for Kent State wrestling and I’m excited to be a part of it.
